Hunt Hill Audubon Sanctuary will be hosting a Soup Lunch at Long Lake Lutheran Church, W3114 Church Road, Sarona at noon on Tuesday, February 12. This month’s topic is Therapeutic Photography with Ian Karl of Northwest Passage.
This month’s speaker is Ian Karl, experiential learning coordinator for Northwest Passage, who will be describing the Therapeutic Photography Program: In a New Light. In a New Light is a constellation of strength-based therapeutic programs that harness the power of art and nature, and operate under the principles of positive psychology. These programs aim to empower children in residential treatment at Northwest Passage to perceive themselves through a lens of strength and awe-inspiring accomplishments. By sharing their story, In a New Light gives marginalized children a voice to prove to the world that they are profoundly worthy of society’s investment.
Held on the second Tuesdays of the month during the winter, each Soup Lunch features a different guest speaker on a nature topic, along with a delicious lunch of homemade soup, crackers, and dessert. Registration is not necessary. Soup Lunch programs are free to attend. Free-will donations will be accepted to help fund environmental education programming at Hunt Hill.
